Good morning! We wanted to share some information about our up and coming news and events within the Heriot-Watt nursery. Our annual sponsored Easter egg competition in aid of the Edinburgh Children's Hospital Charity will be taking place soon, and each room has already chosen their colours for decorating their egg. For those who will be doing this for the first year, your child will receive an egg template and is encouraged to be as creative as they can to decorate a spectacular egg in their chosen colours and get some sponsors from their friends and family. Through joint efforts between our nurseries, we have raised over £50, 000 for Edinburgh Children's Hospital Charity in recent years and we hope to continue our incredible record of charitable support, along with the help of our £1 for £1 matching target this year of £5, 000 from the company annual donation. We are really excited about our new equipment arriving for our garden, it will soon be complete with a new loose part area, planting garden, dens and tunnels for the children to explore. We have a few extra activities that take place throughout the week and have created our own weekly classes which are delivered to all children who are keen to participate at no extra cost. These classes include yoga, Spanish, dancing and Book bug sessions. These classes have already been trialed with our Early Learning children, and they have been a huge success, so we're really looking forward to rolling this programme out to include other age groups. Without our professional, knowledgeable and caring staff we would not be able to provide these fantastic opportunities for your children. The staff go above and beyond in putting the children’s interests and needs first and foremost. I’m sure you will agree that the staff are truly amazing, and we are lucky to have such a wonderful team. Our community visits have been planned this term with the children choosing places they would most like to visit. The children have been taking regular trips to the local nursing home at Sighthill where we have established a strong partnership within our community. The residents and children have been having a fantastic time during these visits, sharing stories, singing songs, playing games and participating in arts and crafts. Pinocchio's Nurseries is a family business that has been running for over 21 years now. We believe that supportive learning and development is vital, and we have been accredited with Investors In People now for 17 years and counting! Pinocchio's is part of the Heriot watt community, and we would like to thank all the families that we have worked with, in the past and present, for the opportunities and support you've shown. Over the years and to this day we feel honoured for the chance to care for your children, making the nursery a second home to support their growth and development, and for the trust that you have given us. We would also to wish Lewissa (Director) all the very best as she is being very brave as and will be taking part in a sponsored Skydive on the 21st of April, to raise more for this amazing charity. We have a few extra activities that take place throughout the week and we also thoroughly enjoy providing Yoga sessions throughout the week provided by our staff. Our Eco-Schools team run by Amy has continued to grow and the children are beginning to create a milk bottle igloo which we are very excited about getting finished! Our After School Explorers Club is up and running, and is already proving very popular with the children. They have been on a variety of adventures which have been much enjoyed, as well as building a successful collaborative partnership with Eskbank Nursery, where many new friendships have been formed. Our Nursery Champions are focussing on their key topics to provide wonderful experiences for the children. Emma is particularly enjoying increasing her knowledge of Loose Parts and how this can benefit our children and will be running sessions to enhance Loose Parts learning in all rooms. Jil, a keen gardener, has been in touch with Dobbie's and we will be looking to work with them and their gardening club. Stacey has completed training on Story Telling through Role Play and has had great fun with our children providing interactive story time. The children have loved acting out their stories using homemade props and puppets! Without our professional, knowledgeable and caring staff we would not be able to provide these fantastic opportunities for your children.
