We offer the lots of varied, fun activities including - arts and crafts, schematic play, treasure baskets, stories, singing, messy play, music making, physical play, dancing, home baking, puzzles, outdoor play, construction, mark making, sand and water play, local walks, IT- using computers and ipads.
Outdoors play is an important part of the day for the children and we look at it as an extension and continuation of the playroom by providing role play, water, sand and a woodwork bench along with a fabulous mud kitchen area where children are able to make mud pies and generally enjoying natural messy play which is important for the children's well being by finding out about something new – “what happens if?"
This encourages a positive approach to new experiences and requires concentration, problem solving and planning- skills which lead to increased self confidence and self esteem.

Forest School play is an educational initiative to enhance children’s experiences using the natural wildlife surroundings. It helps to build child’s self-esteem, confidence, provides opportunities for the children to explore and gain knowledge of risk and how to assess a situation in order for the children to challenge their skills and abilities.
Our Lead Forest School play teacher teaches the children how to explore the woodlands, play with natural materials and enhance their learning through experiences such as den building, learning how to build safe forest campfires, using natural settings and materials to incorporate in art and crafts, create our own woodland stories and learning the different species of trees and plants.
Within the children’s play and experiences they will be incorporating our curriculum for English, Maths, Health and Wellbeing and Science.
Scotland is leading the way in Forest schools (from a statement provide by Edinburgh council last week) and we at Pinocchio’s are excited to be apart of it!
